Fellow CADem Delegates,
I am one of the youngest mayors in California. I share that not as a point of pride, but as context for why this endorsement matters to me personally. Josh Fryday has earned my support because of what I have seen him build for young Californians.
While I worked at the San Jose Conservation Corps, I worked with Josh and saw firsthand what it looks like when a young adult is given a real opportunity. Not a symbolic one. A job with a paycheck, a skill set, and a future attached to it. The young people I worked alongside were capable of far more than they were typically asked to do. They just needed someone to believe that and invest accordingly.
Josh Fryday has spent his career making that investment. As the architect of California’s Service Corps, including the Climate Action Corps, he created more than 10,000 paid positions annually for young Californians doing meaningful work in their communities. This was not a pilot program or a campaign promise. It is a functioning infrastructure that is changing lives right now.
What I respect most is that Josh did not build this from a distance. He understands how these programs work, why they matter, and what it takes to sustain them. That kind of operational knowledge is exactly what the Lieutenant Governor’s office needs.
California’s future depends on whether this generation has real opportunities here. Josh Fryday has dedicated his public life to making sure we do. I am proud to support him, and I encourage my fellow CADem delegates to do the same.
