As California helps lead the world on climate change during the COP 30 Conference in Brazil, prominent climate and environmental leaders are lining up behind Josh Fryday’s campaign for Lieutenant Governor.
Fryday is a product of the climate movement, having served as COO of NextGen Climate from 2013 to 2016. During that time, he was on the front lines of advocating for climate policy and leading efforts to oppose fossil-fuel polluting projects. For example, Fryday helped organize and lead efforts to oppose the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline.
“I’m honored to be endorsed by these leaders of the climate and environmental movements. I’ve dedicated much of my career to climate and environmental action to protect people and our communities. I’m running for Lieutenant Governor because I understand the urgency of the moment we are in,” said Fryday. “California has always led the nation on climate action and protecting our natural resources. By working together, we can tackle wildfire prevention, accelerate climate-resilient infrastructure, and ensure that every community, urban and rural, can thrive.”
Environmentalists endorsing Fryday’s campaign include:
- Former U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Podesta

“I’ve known Josh for decades. At a time when so much of the national political debate is only about what can be destroyed, Josh is all about building a brighter future for California. I’m so glad to be a day one supporter of his campaign for Lieutenant Governor,” said Mr. Podesta.
“I’ve known Josh Fryday since our days in law school at Berkeley,” said Senator Stern. “He understands, more than anyone I’ve ever worked with, that climate solutions, like other great challenges, aren’t just technological or political. People must be inspired to serve. Some problems are just too big to handle alone. That’s why California needs his servant leadership as our next Lieutenant Governor. That’s why I’m all in.”
