California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) announced an endorsement of Josh Fryday for Lieutenant Governor.
“California Environmental Voters is proud to endorse Josh Fryday,” said Matt Abularach-Macias, Political Director of California Environmental Voters. “He doesn’t just talk about climate. He acts. With a long track record of climate leadership, including his work with NextGen Climate to build the political power needed to win on this issue, Josh has spent his career fighting for a livable planet. As a member of Governor Newsom’s cabinet, Josh created the California Climate Action Corps, creating thousands of good jobs and opportunities for young Californians to protect communities on the front lines of the climate crisis. Josh’s model for the Climate Corps has since spread to states across the country, empowering communities to take strong climate action. As Lieutenant Governor, he’ll bring that same urgency to the role, protecting California’s coast and public lands.”
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of California Environmental Voters. The climate crisis demands leaders who will act with urgency, and as Lieutenant Governor I will continue to push the clean energy transition and protect our natural resources. I’ll use my seat on the State Lands Commission to protect our coastlines and public land. I’ll be a partner to communities fighting for environmental justice, clean air and clean water. And I’ll bring the same energy that built the California Climate Action Corps into a nationwide model to everything I do in this office. The stakes are too high for anything less, and I’m ready to get to work,” said Fryday.
Fryday is a father to three, husband to a public school teacher, Navy veteran, former mayor and member of the Governor’s cabinet. As California’s Chief Service Officer, Fryday has grown the California Service Corps to be larger than the entire Peace Corps.
Fryday’s campaign for Lieutenant Governor has also received the endorsement of the California Teachers Association, the California Federation of Teachers, California School Employees Association, Senator Barbara Boxer, Pete Buttigieg, State Senator Melissa Hurtado, State Senator Henry Stern, Assemblymember Joaquin Arambula, Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva, Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel, Assemblymember Chris Rogers, Riverside Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson, Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken, Santa Ana Mayor Valerie Amezcua, Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi, Moreno Valley Mayor Ulises Cabrera, VoteVets, San Diego County Young Democrats, California Legislative Jewish Caucus, and many others.
